This wide-eyed owl was carved by Justin Red Elk from Zuni Pueblo. The jet eyes are inlayed into pale green serpentine. Its beak, feet, tail, and wings are detailed. It arrived in a black leather pouch with a bit of cornmeal in it to feed it on its travels.
Owl size: 1.75" H x .75" L x .5" W
Owls are birds of the night who fly silently with excellent vision. Some of us are lucky enough to hear the swish of their wings as they fly by, or their gentle hoots. They, as do most raptors, communicate between this world and the next.
Traditionally, Zuni carvings are symbolically fed cornmeal. Each Zuni fetish comes in a box with a descriptive card and a tiny bit of corn meal to tide them over until they reach you.
